Update on snipe migration March 14

Nozomi’s transmitter is still sending regular signals from around Jerrabomberra wetlands. Many other snipe have now left the wetland on migration, so we would expect her to leave any day now.

We did not receive any signals from Tsubasa’s transmitter for about 2 weeks. And then around the middle of last week, it mysteriously “switched on” again. The signals were still originating from Gwydir wetlands, and the few transmissions received since them are from the same location. This suggests that the transmitter is no longer attached to the bird. We will continue to monitor it over the coming weeks, and if the opportunity arises, make an attempt to visit the site.
